Myrtle Beach Real Estate
Owning a Home in Paradise

If you are one of the many who have decided to invest in oceanfront real estate, resort property, or a beachfront vacation home, you are probably weighing the options of where to buy. We offer you some facts to consider about the Myrtle Beach, SC area and the differences between owning real estate here:

Out of all of the east coast beach resorts, Myrtle Beach is one of the only ones that still offers real estate prices that are low enough even for someone on a limited income to live near and enjoy all of its beauty and amenities. Our grocery prices are some of the lowest in the nation. Our doctors and hospitals charge about 1/3 of what it will cost you for the same care in an area like Miami Beach or Las Vegas. Car insurance is a bit higher than some small southern towns, but we have no required annual inspection fees of $40-50 like the neighboring states have. Our property taxes are exceptionally low.

Because of the distinct town limits from Little River to Pawley's Island, each 10-15 mile area has its own collection of attractions. Restaurants, theatres, drugstores, medical offices, courthouses, drivers license divisions, doctors, attorneys, and grocery stores abound in each area. You may live very inexpensively on the north end and never have to drive more than 10 miles for anything! The author of this website can attest that driving less than 8000 miles a year is not only possible but normal, unless you just prefer to venture into the other cities. North Myrtle Beach offers everything that Myrtle Beach has, and the far south end is the same. Move to Murrell's Inlet and you seldom have to drive more than 10 miles north unless you want to. With gas prices going upwards every year, this makes a big difference in your expenditures! If you work, find your job FIRST, then pick your area to buy real estate and live accordingly.

Whether you need a one bedroom condo at a very affordable price, or a 6 bedroom mansion on the waterfront, Myrtle Beach real estate has what you need. Few resort areas can boast the varied lifestyle that exists in the Grand Strand, and will offer the lifestyle we have to a $10 an hour hotel clerk as well as a retired multi-millionaire. Even the waterfront neighborhoods often have homes and condos under $100,000. If you want luxury and exclusivity, you'll find it - from Barefoot Resort's Yacht Club to Grande Dunes and Litchfield Beach - the rich can flaunt their lifestyle too. If you have even a decent paying job and good credit, you can live very close to the beach and OWN your home.

Grande Dunes Oceanfront Myrtle Beach
Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach
One of the most exclusive of the preferred neighborhoods in Myrtle Beach is the oceanfront section of Grande Dunes. Located east of the Grand Strand Hospital near 82nd Ave, from the minute you turn into this development, it is apparent that you are in a part of Myrtle Beach that most tourists never see.

Busy Summers and Mild Winters

Some people may prefer year round heat and summer weather, and for those who do, Florida is the answer. But consider this...We have a distinct summer season where businesses flourish, hundreds of thousands of tourists spend money, every kind of entertainment one could ask for has invested in a location, and extra income can be obtained easily. Then, the summer is over and the fun begins for the locals! We have a LONG, wonderful, warm, fall and spring season with little traffic, few tourists, and all the attractions that a resort area makes available. Most cater to locals and reduce their prices dramatically in the off season. Those who retire here, and even the Canadian "snow birds" can live the lifestyle that brings millions of tourists to Myrtle Beach each year. Unlike Florida, hurricanes seldom bother the South Carolina coast, particularly in North Myrtle Beach. During most of the summer, we do not live in a sauna, unlike Orlando and Miami where the heat is near unbearable. Our winters are mild, with perhaps only 45-60 days in which the temperature is less 50 degrees. Yet, we experience the seasons. From the yearnings of the spring, to the crisp clean air of Halloween, to a Christmas you can spend by the fireside, we have the seasons. The good part is that none of them are extreme, and 3/4 of the year is heavenly!

Myrtle Beach Police

If you stay in the main resort areas and stay out of the one or two bad areas, the Grand Strand is one of the safest cities to live and flourish. There are 24 hour grocery stores, and it's SAFE to shop at midnight. The Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach Police Departments are some of the finest in the nation and protect the citizens well. We are not tolerant of drunk drivers, drug dealing, or gang violence, and you seldom ever hear of the latter two in the regular neighborhoods. Yes, like any metropolitan area, we have a few bad sections. You can live here 20 years and never go near them, too. Keep a sensible lifestyle and you will seldom worry about crime in Myrtle Beach.

We hope we have given you a few more reasons to choose Myrtle Beach, SC real estate. Those of us who are fortunate enough to live here are very proud of our beautiful beaches, and love to brag. If you have questions, CONTACT US! We will be happy to talk to you about the area and tell you more.
